Almazaras de la Subbética is a first grade Cooperative that has its origins in 1954. It comes from the merger of several cooperatives with the aim of joining forces to multiply results. Most of our members are small farmers who have inherited the groves from parents to children, to defend a way of life in which the olive grove is practically the only source of income for the family, they associate through our Cooperative. Our olive grove is located within the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park and protected by the Priego de Córdoba PDO. It is a mountain olive grove, with steep slopes and more than 100 years old trees, and in some cases millenary.
The small size of the plots, because the ownership structure is very fragmented, together with this difficult ground, means that our harvest costs are up to 3 and 4 times higher than the average.
