This extra virgin olive oil is produced from an autochthonous variety of Istria, distinguished by its high-quality golden-green color and strong sensory identity. It is easily recognizable for its pronounced bitterness and intense pungency, characteristics that reflect its richness in natural polyphenols and exceptional freshness.
On the nose, it reveals intense and complex aromas, enriched by distinctive notes of medicinal herbs, particularly mint and rosemary, creating a powerful and elegant aromatic profile.
Its robust structure makes it especially suitable for dishes with strong and bold flavors, such as bitter vegetables, mature cheeses, traditional Boškarin steak (Istrian cattle), game meats such as wild boar, and grilled specialties. This olive oil delivers depth, intensity, and a true expression of Istrian olive-growing heritage.
The Černeka family has long cultivated olives in the Sovinjak area near Buzet, a tradition inherited from their ancestors. On the northernmost continental point of the Northern Istria peninsula, olive groves thrive on terraced calcareous and limestone soil 210-290 metres above sea level.
We process the olives with advanced technology in our own olive manufacturing “Torkop”.
The olives are grown traditionally, without special treatment. We harvest them at the beginning of October and process them on the same day by the cold method, which ensures high quality and acknowledgement. Our oil is green-yellow in colour, and its flavour is dominated by grass, fruit and evergreen trees. It has a mild bitter taste and is elegantly spicy and aromatic. It can therefore be used with all types of food – boiled and roasted fish, meats, vegetables, and various cheeses. “Černeka” extra virgin olive oil has been awarded many gold medals both at home and abroad.
