Our company Bovan d.o.o. has planted ten thousand olive trees in village Nadin (Dalmatia – southern region in Croatia) known as the most ecological place in Croatia – officially declared and confirmed by government institutions that Nadin has the highest number of organic producers.

The soil on which our company planted olives has never been used for agricultural purposes, so it has never been treated with any chemicals or mineral fertilizers. This, in combination with its favorable microclimate, makes it the ideal location to plan organic agricultural production. Based on our experience, the fact that our olive oil is produced on virgin soil is extremely rare and very attractive for the market.

The cultivation of the olive plantation is done in collaboration with esteemed experts from the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb. They make sure that all the necessary agricultural measures and standards of ecological production of the European Union are met. The production is controlled and certified by competent authorities.

The harvesting and processing of the olives is led by food technologists who conduct laboratory analysis of the olive fruits in order to determine the time of optimal ripeness of the olives and the ideal harvesting time (which can vary depending on the olive variety). The harvest is done by hand and the processing of the olives is done on the same day by cold pressing them in a certified oil mill authorized for organic production. Oil produced this way is then stored in prescribed conditions until it is transferred and bottled – all done under the supervision of a food technologist.

Following all of the prescribed processes and taking into consideration the varieties and microclimatic conditions, as well as the quality of the soil, we produce organic extra virgin olive oil of the highest category
