Ol Istria Extra Virgin Olive Oil has since years been the synonym and quality standard for Istrian olive oils, as confirmed by numerous awards won by that oil from year to year. The extra virgin olive oil is obtained by processing olives from own olive groves in a cold pressing procedure. Each drop of this extra virgin olive oil blends the centuries-long tradition with state-of-the-art crop management and production technology. The absolute trend in olive oil production today are single varietal olive oils. Like wines, oils can be single varietal or cuvees. Particular attention has to be paid to the characteristics of oil made of a single variety, using imagination and knowledge to pair it with specific dishes. The Ol Istria brand features the single varietal olive oils Picholine, Pendolino, Ascolana, Leccino and the indigenous sort Istarska bjelica, as well as extra virgin olive oil obtained from a selection of several olive sorts of extraordinary quality. The Ol Istria brand holds a certificate of controlled designation of origin for the extra virgin olive oil, ZOI Istria, which implies a strict control of olive fruits of exclusively Istrian origin, of only selected sorts, processed within short time at the maximum temperature of 27°C and kept under controlled temperature and internal atmosphere conditions.

So far 65,000 olive trees have been planted on Agrolaguna’s 220 ha of land, providing in good years 150 tonnes of premium extra virgin olive oil. All olives are processed at the company’s own crushing plant, applying modern crop management and production technology (cold processing procedure, directly from the olive fruit within eight hours, with the oil kept and stored in stainless steel barrels).
